stuck halfway

A recurring element in the dreams which I have had since I have had children is people I used to know when I was at school. They are often not central to the dreams which tend to be related to things I have done the day before or things I am going to do in the next week.

They are not always people I was close to at school and they just seem to appear in passing but always have a role to play like picking up something which I have dropped or opening the car door for me etc.

Familiar places from my past have also become the setting for my dreams so that a current situation in my life is played out in a house or village I lived in twenty years ago.

It is interesting that this has only been the case since I had children six years ago. It is almost as if it is causing my subconscious to review things I have done and places I have been during my life. I think it is to do with having to be responsible as a parent and perhaps wanting to go back to the past when things all seemed a lot simpler.

A recent and quite short dream which I had was set in my current house and I was with my father. The door bell rang and I answered the door to Richard who used to be my best friend at school and whom I have not been in touch with now for over ten years. He had a fleece which belonged to my father and he was returning it. He had tried to push it under the door but it had got stuck half way and so he had rung the doorbell.
